Nov 2020 – Of all the current chiller refrigerants in use, R-404A has a GWP of 3922 which is the highest of all the commonly used refrigerants. In order to reduce the impact on the enviroment, R-404A has recently been replaced by two new refrigerants: R-448A and R-449A.
R-404A is a mixed chiller refrigerant composed of the three ingredients R-125, R-134a, and R-143a. Because its GWP is so high, it has been replaced by R-448A which has a GWP rating of 1273, and R-449A which has a GWP rating of 1397. Both are excellent alternatives to R-404A especially for small to medium sized commercial and industrial refrigeration applications.
